The bob model I use for almost seven years has become a part of me because of its easy maintenance and effortlessly stylish look. Some of my friends who have short hair like me requested a post about styling tips for short hair and I'm here to share my ideas with you. You would think that since it is short the options are little but this modern hair of yours will look stunning if you only show the slightest effort.

* Straight Hair: Whether you have straight hair or curly hair you can have pin straight hair in an instant. After you washed your hair, apply a straightening serum or spray. Then use a large round brush or a large rectangular brush to straighten as best as you can. Next, grab your ceramic hair straightener and pass it through the hair which you parted into small sections beforehand. You don't want the heat to damage your hair girls, so use the straightener as quick as possible. You can use this chic model both day and night, it is so convenient.

* Natural Waves: You can create soft waves with a wide barrel curling iron. Afterwards, lightly mess your waves with the help of your fingers to have a natural tousled look.

* Headbands: Headbands come in various kinds and colors. They are functional, keep your hair in place and out of your face. No matter you are on a bad or a good hair day they are your hair's reliable friends. Now you thought about it you are grateful to them, right? OK, maybe I went a little bit far. Anyway, back to my point headbands are wise and easy choices and we all should benefit from them. You could either slide it just above the hairline or farther back. Place one or a couple of them just to make your own fashion statement.

*Barettes: After you style your short hair, just part it on the side and place your cute barette. Let some small part of your hair show on the front. Now, barettes are also another rescuer of our hair. They keep the hair out of the face or hide it if you are on a bad hair day. Plus, it draws attention to your lovely face.

We are moving through our 'Movies We Want to Watch' list and this week's movie is a 1989 Cameron Crowe classic, Say Anything.

I can't remember the very first movie which I came across with John Cusack, I guess it was America's Sweethearts and since that day he ranks high on my favorite actors list. Early on, he already got my standing ovation with his performance in Runaway Jury, and then he became a phenomenon for me once I watched him in High Fidelity. He hits the bull's-eye in every movie with his exceptional talent, portraying unconventional heroes, talkative, carefree, sometimes indecisive, so likable that makes you feel like you are cronies. Even if he says nothing at all, his facial expressions always manage to make me laugh.

After this brief introduction let's move on to the movie. Say Anything is Cameron Crowe's debut film as well as one of the first movies of John. (Yeah, I pretty much took the liberty of calling John Cusack on a first-name basis.) John's character is Lloyd Dobler who has just gratuated from high school and he captures our attention with his style consisting of a tan trenchcoat, The Clash t-shirts, sweatpants accompanied with high top sneakers. Kickboxing is his special interest and his heart beats for Diane Court, the brainy, beautiful girl of their high school.

Although Diane Court adorns the dreams of most guys, to everyone's surprise at school the only guy who convinces her to go out is Lloyd Dobler, a total nobody for everyone. Diane is in the preparation of going to England for college and decides to hang out with Lloyd till she leaves for England. Lloyd is a real considerate lover and he is willing to do anything for Diane. As for Diane, she is stuck in between her father's plans for her future and her unexpected feelings for Lloyd, and watching her inflicting agony on Lloyd makes us want to strangle her throughout the movie. Lloyd's words below describes his misery perfectly:

"She gave me a pen. I gave her my heart, she gave me a pen."

What made me watch this movie? Ever since I watched Sixteen Candles and got acquainted with the Jake Ryan legend a couple of years ago, I found out that in 1980's, American women compared Jake and Lloyd incessantly as to make the final decision on the important matter of which one is the ideal boyfriend. I immediately got curious about this information and wondered about Lloyd Dobler's qualities that put him in the competition with Jake Ryan. Having seen both of them in action do you want to know my decision?
Well, first of all I want all of you to realize that I'm facing with a tough situation here. I mean, on one side I have Jake Ryan and his birthday cake scene with candle lights competing against Lloyd's boombox serenade scene on the other side. It was really a hard decision but Lloyd Dobler who has no clue about his career plan came out as the winner for me. As we are filled with the joy of scratching out one more movie from our list, the words we hear from Sezen's lips about John Cusack's performance are "This movie sums up John Cusack!"

We all know that long hair requires more attention than short hair. While neglicence can easily make you look unkempt, styling it can make you look glamorous. No doubt, we are all grateful for all the hair styling devices out there helping us look presentable however using them every day can cause serious damage to your hair. So, what else can we do to style our hair if we don't feel like wearing it up?

Good old hair rollers come to our aid in such days. Hair rollers create a much more natural look as opposed to the curls made with curling iron, plus, using rollers prevents hair from heat damage. You can find various kinds of hair rollers in beauty stores at affordable prices. I prefer using Velcro ones because of their functionality on holding hair and the different sizes one can choose from depending on the size of the wave you want. Now let's get to the fun part:

* Start with drying your hair if it's wet. Then you can use some volumizing spray or mousse for lasting effect.

* Separate your hair into sections. The width of the sectioned hair should be less than the width of the hair roller. Now, pull one section of hair up and smooth it with a comb. After attaching the ends to the roller, roll it tightly inwards until you reach the roots. Here's a useful tip: Work with thin sections if you want to create volume and have lasting waves. Secure the rolls with pins to prevent them from getting loose.

* Once you have finished rolling your hair, blow dry it for about 5 minutes on medium heat. Now you can go on reading your novel while waiting for the rollers to cool down.

* When you can't wait any longer to see those fabulous waves then it's time to get to the business. Because we value being fair and we want to treat everything on equal terms, try to follow the rolling order when you are unrolling your hair. To avoid hair tangling, pay attention to unroll them the way you rolled them rather than trying to pull the rollers out viciously.

* Style your waves with the help of a wide tooth comb. Since combing lessens the effect of the waves, be careful not to overdo it. Now that you achieved the final look, just spray and fix it. Ta da! You have gorgeous hair with natural waves.

Your hair may get frizzy after you take out the rollers, just smooth those little rascals down with an anti-frizz hair product or simply apply a dab of moisturizer. As a final touch you can spray some hair shine for that healthy shimmery look.

Recently, Nihan and I decided to make a list of the movies we always wanted to see but never had the opportunity. The ever growing list made the bitter truth loud and clear that the former movie monsters have lost their pace to the extent that they can no longer call themselves as such. What had happened to us? Had the aliens kidnapped us and then replaced us with our 3rd and 4th clones? If so, then which one is writing this post right now?

Among the top picks of our list, there is a classic, which the real movie monsters had long ago gotten over with, the very Napoleon Dynamite. With a plot that can be summed up as everything about nothing, one can observe the lives of people living in the lesser known parts of the US while watching the anti-hero Napoleon deal with his everyday life issues. The fact that the story manages to grab you subtly, proves the success of this movie perfectly. We have been under its spell so much so that we cite quotes incessantly on every possible occasion for the last 2 days. Annoying little brats, aren't we? Now, I want to point out that there are some who abhor this movie and there are also fans who loves it so much that they wear the promotional t-shirts. We are in no way responsible for the discontent that may occur.

Last week, I mentioned you about a project of a friend that I was helping with. Finally my friend, Sezen and I have joined our forces together and successfully managed to put an end to this misery, blood, sweat and tears*. After accomplishing that, I have returned to my blog, cape blowing in the wind and in all my glory!

She Came Bearing Gifts

Last week, one of our best buddies Fatos came all the way from Pittsburgh to her homeland. Because it has been ages since we last saw each other, I can't even describe the extent of our elation, we missed her big time. We talked and talked and talked... we didn't want to leave each other's side even for a second for fear that we would waste our precious little time together.

She likes surprising us with adorable presents and this time wasn't an exception. Even her hectic schedule of attending seminars and preparing presentations didn't constitute enough of an obstacle to her. It is also touching to see how she cared for the little details about us while buying these special things, like my fondness for butterflies.

And me and my sister's shared interest of beauty products, especially when they smell like heaven. The packaging is so dazzling I want to eat it :)

And these headbands are something that I was desperately in need of but it never occured to me to get a proper one myself. I was just putting on whatever hair accessories I can get my hands on which weren't as stylish and cute as these ones. Let's just say all is well with the world now that we resolved this little problem.

Blogging is a serious thing, period. It may seem like I forgot I had a blog at some point in my life but even I don't know how I have managed to be away for two months. Leaving all excuses aside, I'm here to compensate!

First of all, me and my sister were busy making arrangements with our cute little boutique 8 / 25. We are happily sharing with you all, our first production of handmade clothes, yay! OK, too much joy over one glimpse of sunshine and now it's pouring rain outside. As if that wasn't enough, I had to get myself wet in order to make some payments, so after battling with the vigorous wind which was doing an excellent job making me look ridiculous with an invert umbrella, I finally got myself into the bank, all soaked up. Anyhow, there is no point in being negative about the forces of nature (especially now that I'm in the comfort of my warm, sweet home) so I just looked on the bright side and made myself a delicious cup of hot chocolate! I love rain :)

After a week of rainy days, it was good to get out and get some fresh air. On our way out, we stopped by a few shops to check out the spring fashion as well as our indispensable destinations; bookstores! (it's like a candy shop for us, we literally lose ourselves once we get inside one of them). Remembering the pile of books already waiting for me at home, I headed towards the DVD section and picked myself a Hugh Jackman movie and then I was ready to leave, not bad huh?

I was captivated by an entertaining novel today and it occurred to me that it would be a good idea to talk about some of our favorite books and thus spread the love of reading. Me first! Me first!!! (ok, now I realized I'm talking to myself and a little bit freaked out).

Let's see, recently I've been indulging on the Julia Quinn novels and I must admit they are so entertaining. For those who don't know about this author, her stories show resemblance towards Jane Austen but in a more humorous way. I started to read these books as a guilty pleasure but now I think that reading this kind of light-hearted books from time to time is a good way to ease your mind and have couple of laughs while you are at it. I mean, it won't hurt to give a break on reading Jack Kerouac on account of enjoying one of these novels :)

Moving on, I'm having a shortage of enough bookmarks right now. So here is how ETF coped with this bitter situation:

Welcome to Eight Twenty Five!

We are two sisters, actually twin sisters who enjoy designing cheerful accessories and like to live our lives in tune with the rhythms of bossa nova and 80's music. ETF is our blog where we share our fascination with anything that makes our hearts go oh-la-la! In case you are wondering, the name comes from our birthday which is 25th of August.

Here is some information that describes each of us in a nutshell:

Sezen: Loves polka dots, likes baking cupcakes and pancakes, experimenting with her camera, and she is also our savior with her skills at solving problems about anything tech, oh and don't forget her love of chocolate!

Nihan: Loves dancing with funny moves when there is no one around, likes sprinkling coffee grains on anything sweet... See, she loves coffee so much she not only drinks it but also eats it... Yeah... She also likes cooking whenever she feels like it and of course chocolate! She has some sort of silly-weird way of describing things in her own way but she is not planning on making a fool of herself and explain this any further.

Shopping & Payment
We sell our items via our shop in pasaj.com. The pictures of the items that are on this blog is for display only. When you buy an item we will ship it after the payment is received.

Requesting an Item
If the item you want is already sold, just contact us and we will let you know whether we can make it again or not depending on the materials we have.

Shipping
International orders will be sent via Turkish Post Airmail and usually take 5-14 days to arrive. Shipment will be made within 1-2 business days after the payment is received.
